PTE Core tests everyday English and is accepted by IRCC for immigration, including Express Entry, PNP and work permits, where your score converts to CLB levels. PTE Academic tests academic English and is used for university admission and study permits. The skills overlap, so PTEfy trains a shared foundation and then splits you into the right track.
Most Express Entry programs require CLB 7, which is Listening 60, Reading 60, Writing 69, Speaking 68. To unlock the maximum language points, you want CLB 9: Listening 82, Reading 78, Writing 88, Speaking 84. IRCC reads each skill separately, so your lowest skill sets your effective level.
