Is there a limit?
There is no set number of times you can sit PTE Core. In practice, you usually need to receive your result from one attempt before you book the next, and you hold one booking at a time. Because policies can change, confirm the current booking and rebooking rules with Pearson before you plan multiple attempts.
You retake the whole test
PTE Core does not offer a single-skill retake. If one skill is holding your CLB back, a retake means sitting all four skills again, not just the weak one. That is an important planning point, because you need to hold your strong skills while you lift the weak one.
Watch your validity window
Each result is valid for two years from its own test date. If you take the test several times, the clock is tied to whichever result you use. Plan your retakes so the score you rely on is still valid when IRCC receives your application. For more on that, see our guide on how long a PTE Core score is valid.
Make the next attempt count
Before you rebook, measure which skill is short of your target and spend your time only there. A focused plan usually beats another cold attempt. If you are one band away, targeted coaching on the weak skill is often the fastest route to the score.
