The two-year rule
Your PTE Core result is valid for two years from the day you take the test. For immigration, your result needs to still be valid on the day IRCC receives your application, not just the day you enter the pool. If your test expires while you are waiting, you may have to retake it before you can submit.
When to book
If you are early in your Express Entry journey and expect a long wait, it can make sense to build your profile first and time your test so the result is fresh when you are close to applying. If you already have a strong profile and expect a quick invitation, take the test sooner so your score is ready. Either way, keep a clear note of your test date and expiry.
If your score is about to expire
There is no way to extend a PTE Core result. If it is close to expiring and you still need it, plan a retake with enough lead time for results and for any resubmission. Book early, because test slots and result timing can vary.
